A mother and her 11-year-old daughter shared an emotional reunion at the Nashville International Airport on Thursday night after being separated at the border more than a month ago.

Albertina Contreras and her daughter, Yakelyn, made the three-week trek from Guatemala to the U.S. border in May.

The mother and daughter were trying to get to family members in Murfreesboro.

The night they reached the border more than a month ago was the last time Contreras saw her daughter until now. They were then detained and housed in separate facilities in Texas.

Their reunion comes weeks after President Trump signed an executive order to reunite immigrant families.

The mother and daughter will now be going to Murfreesboro to stay with their relatives.
